What is the difference between Hemp, Hemp Extract/Full Spectrum Hemp Oil, Hemp Seed Oil, Pure CBD, Cannabis, and Marijuana? Let us simplify these terms for you and empower you on your road towards health and wellness. Let’s start learning!
Cannabis: The umbrella term used for both Hemp and Marijuana. While the terms Hemp and Marijuana are not interchangeable, they are still both part of the Cannabis family.
Hemp: A high CBD variety of the cannabis plant. Hemp plants are high in CBD and low in THC (0.3% or less). CBD is commonly known and helpful for inflammation, anxiety control, and regulating the body’s endocannabinoid system. CBD is not intoxicating.
Marijuana: A high THC variety of the cannabis plant. Marijuana contains high levels of THC and moderate levels of CBD. THC is commonly known and is helpful for pain relief, anxiety control, appetite stimulation, and insomnia. THC also provides the psychoactive effect that Marijuana is typically known for.
Hemp Extract / Full Spectrum Hemp Oil: Extracted from the stalks, stems, and flowers of the Hemp plant which contains high amounts of CBD. This still retains other cannabinoids, terpenes, and phytonutrients found within the Hemp plant which boosts the therapeutic and medicinal value of the CBD.
Pure CBD: Extracted from the stalks, stems, and flowers of the Hemp plant which contain high amounts of CBD. This has been stripped of all the other plant components leaving you with only CBD.
Hemp Seed Oil: The seeds are the only part of the Hemp plant that contains little to no CBD. However, it is high in protein along with an abundance of essential amino and fatty acids. This is great for cooking, beauty products, and as a carrier oil.
